E-vangelization Hungary - spread the Gospel and the knowledge of the Gospel throughout the world
Due to continuous signups to this email list, there are currently about 28,000 people daily receiving spiritual nourishment in this way. Father István Sándor Horvath sent over the past years, some 30 million electronic gospel messages to the email list. (Hungary has a population of approximately 10 million people, and 6 million are Catholics). Due to this initiative not only people of Hungary, but also other Hungarians living abroad, working or studying in over 80 countries from Canada to New Zealand were able to read the gospel in their native Hungarian language. Recently, the President of the Hungarian Republic, Mr. Pal Schmitt mentioned in an interview that he also starts his day by reading the e-mail from the e-vangelization list serve.
The recently launched evangelistic website ( www.evangelium365.hu ) allows the website users to post comments or reflections on the daily Gospel, and thus develop a dialogue between readers of the gospel. The readers can upload their prayer requests to the site, asking members of the community for prayer.
Father István Sándor Horvath considers evangelization an important element of his priestly vocation, and he carries this out besides his rectorial duties. At the start of the new evangelistic website he defined his mission through the following passage:
<“And He (Jesus) said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16.15). The Lord's call is to the Church but also to its members. Evangelization is the response to this request, and it is the Church's mission and its essential element. Because Jesus’ request calls especially upon people of priesthood, the e-vangelization website is my personal response to this, arising from my deep priestly vocation. My life’s purpose is: Read, live and preach the gospel. This should be true for every Christian man, too!
The e-vangelization is also a response to Pope Benedict’s request. The Holy Father published his Apostolic letter starting with “Ubicumque et semper” (always and everywhere) at the foundation of the Pontifical Council for New Evangelization, encouraging the use of modern forms of communication for evangelization. The Internet is one of the modern tools, to spread the gospel of Christ to the world.
I am trying to use this modern communication tool besides preaching in my sermons to spread the gospel.>
